<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently make the edge of an image signal steep without causing an erroneous operation by noise. <P>SOLUTION: An edge emphasizing circuit 1 is provided with a delay device 12 and a subtracter 18 for obtaining primary differential Dg of an image signal Din, an absolute value computation circuit 19 for obtaining an absolute value Dh of the primary differential Dg, a peak detection circuit 30 for discriminating whether the absolute value Dh is above a predetermined threshold th or not, and a picture element selection circuit 17 for rewriting an image signal Dd of corresponding picture element by an image signal Dc or De of adjacent picture element based on the results of detection of the peak detection circuit 30. Consequently, an edge emphasis is not performed when the peak amount is less than a threshold th, thereby causing no erroneous operation by noise. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
