PURPOSE:To prevent generation of yellow stains in a stage of slit development of a silver halide color photographic sensitive material by incorporating a specified coupler into the photographic sensitive material. CONSTITUTION:A photographic sensitive material contg. a coupler selected from a group expressed by the formula I or II is processed with washing water and/or a stabilizing soln. having <=60ppm Fe ion content at an outlet of a processing passage while supplying the washing water and/or the stabilizing soln. toward a counter current direction against a direction of transfer of the photographic sensitive material, to a washing and/or stabilizing passage of a slit-shaped processing passage. In the formulas I and II, each R<1> and R<3> is a phenyl group; R<2> is an H atom, aliphatic or aromatic acyl group, etc.; R<4> is an H atom or a substituent; each Za and Zb is methine or substituted methine residue or =N-; each Y<1> and Y<2> is a halogen atom or a group eliminable in a stage of a coupling reaction with an oxidized body of a developing agent. Thus, rapid processing of a silver halide color photographic sensitive material has become possible without impairing preservability of picture image. |
