<p>PURPOSE: To provide a cut-off machine and a method therefor provided with a device in which the number of movable parts is small, and the change in the length of materials and the wear of the movable parts are rapidly and electronically controlled, and a device to reinforce the control of the whole severing work. CONSTITUTION: A cut-off machine to be positioned downstream of a material source such as tube mill, receives a series of tube stocks moving from the mill, and severs them into a plurality of pieces of the prescribed length, includes a plurality of severing devices 23 which are reciprocated in the longitudinal direction where a series of materials are moved, and operated in the severing motion to severe the materials into the pieces of the prescribed length. Each severing device 23 includes a cutter blade 80 to be supported so that an arched passage is put into radial motion. The blade is moved on the straight line across the tube while severing the tube of the prescribed length by engaging the cam 90 in the passage of each blade with a cam follower 92 moved together with the blade.</p> |
