PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Nd-Pr-Fe-B rare earth alloy for a magnet which has a stable maximum energy product and a coercive force.
SOLUTION: The molten metal of an R1-R2-Fe-B rare earth alloy (R2 is one or more kinds selected from Dy, Tb, Gd, Ho, Er, Tm and Yb; and R1 is one or more kinds selected from Y, and lanthanoide series rare earth elements other than R2) having a composition consisting of, by mass, 17 to 33% R1, 0.5 to 15% R2 and 0.95 to 1.1% B, and the balance Fe, and in which ≥80 atomic % of R1 are occupied by Nd and/or Pr, and heated to a temperature higher than the melting point by ≥150°C is solidified in an atmosphere under pressure of ≥27 kPa by a roll rapid cooling method, so that the alloy has a columnar crystal structure in which the mean minor axis length of the crystal grains of the main phase is 2 to 10 μm, and the mean aspect ratio is ≥2.0.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
