Small child support for front passenger seat provided with air-bag - has rearward facing shell with hollow support to immobilise airbag switch inside seat

The front passenger seat is fitted with a switch (12) which senses if the seat is occupied and immobilises/sets the airbag protection system accordingly. The support (5) structure for the seat shell (4) for the small child is hollow to the bottom and sits on the edges of the seat without activating the seat switch. This effectively immobilises the airbag system. The shell is fitted facing rearwards for optimum protection for a small child. The seat switch has priority over other safety switches e.g. seat belt switch. Operation of the airbag could cause injury to the rearward facing child. The hollow support comprises a ring structure or a perforated, concave support plate. ADVANTAGE - Simple protection against injury, no modification required for airbag circuit.
