The assembly includes the cover which has a base (1), a diffuser (2) and a ring (3) that fixes the cover to the base to form a sealed enclosure. The base has a socket (5) to accept the base of the lamp (6), which lies parallel to the base. A cover (4) is pivoted from the base about an axis (43) perpendicular to the lamp axis. When the cover is lowered it prevents contact with the electrical connections to the socket. When the lamp is removed the cover can be raised to prevent access to the lamp connectors. USE/ADVANTAGE - Ensures connections are covered when bulb is in place and prevents access to lamp contacts when lamp is removed, increasing safety of sealed lamps.
