PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the data capacity of an image against the insufficient capacity of an image memory and to print an entire page despite an image of large capacity by expanding an edge list where two cells adjacent to each other in the list and having the color differences smaller than the threshold are integrated together into a raster image when the idle capacity of the image memory becomes insufficient. SOLUTION: An edge list generation means 14 expands an edge list that is shown in the cells showing the coordinate value and colors, i.e., the elements of a page description image. The edge list produced by the means 14 is stored in a memory 28. When the idle capacity of the memory 28 becomes insufficient, two cells which are adjacent to each other in the edge list and have the color differences smaller than the threshold are integrated together by an integration means. Then, a rasterization means 18 expands the edge list containing the integrated cells into a raster image. |
