PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fill a developer for an initial operation, without providing space and a mechanism separately by actuating driving systems so that the developer is supplied to a developing device by a reference quantity with the first cartridge attachment and reaches a quantity required for starting an image forming operation with the second cartridge attachment SOLUTION: A developer cartridge has the developer of the quantity (reference quantity) smaller than that required for starting the operation of the developing device by the quantity of the developer housed in an integrated cartridge and the driving systems 103, 106 and 107 are driven for time enough for almost completing the discharge of the developer in the developer cartridge. When a specified time elapses, the driving systems 103, 106 and 107 are stopped. When it is judged that the developer cartridge is removed and the integrated cartridge is attached, the respective driving systems 103-107 are operated to supply the developer of the quantity required for starting the image forming operation to the developing device. After the supply is completed, shifting to a mode for normally forming an image is attained. |
