PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp appliance with short lighting requiring time, high efficiency, and long life by directly exciting mercury vapor within a fluorescent tube with high frequency. SOLUTION: In a fluorescent lamp appliance, a high frequency oscillator 5 is arranged, and output voltage is supplied to a fluorescent tube 4 through a wave filter which passes oscillated frequency. AC power source voltage is supplied to the fluorescent tube 4. When voltage is applied to 1, 2, the voltage is applied to the fluorescent tube 4 through 3 (the wave filter which obstructs the passing of high frequency), but since mercury vapor within the fluorescent tube is not activated, discharge is not conducted in this state. When the high frequency oscillator 5 is operated, voltage is applied to the fluorescent tube 4 through 6, the mercury vapor is activated, and discharge starts. |
