Elastic tape which is machine crocheted so it remains flat on both sides

An elastic tape (1) is formed in the same manner on both the front and the reverse side, the weft thread (3) lying midway between the front and rear elastic threads (2a, 2b). Also claimed is an apparatus on a warp knitting or crocheting machine for crocheting the above tape. It has the following crocheting utensils (a) groups of back and forth reciprocating needles (10) which are clamped in a needle bar (12), (b) a guide (30) which, for arrays of warp threads (38), can move back and forth and has a sideways displaceable guide bar (32) with guide needles (34) mounted in sets, and (c) a warp thread guide bar (72). There are twelve or more crocheting elements per centimetre over the width of the machine where front and rear guides (50, 54) for the respective elastic threads are solidly located above the stitch building points (42) and, above each group of crochet needles, a single warp thread guide (71) is placed between the elastic thread guides and it can be moved up and down as well as to both sides of the group.
