A machining stage is provided between the hot and cold forming stages, and is formed by contour milling or shaving. A high powered miller (1) is used between the aforementioned stages. It has two machining stations (5,10) with two contour milling discs (7,11) with one located opposite and behind the other, and which have restricted guides (6,12) and steadies (8,13). A feed and positioning device (2) with a downstream profile measurement device (4) is located in front of the first machining station (5). A second measurement device (9) is located between the machining stations.
