PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte battery whose capacity is remarkably increased and which has high charging/discharging efficiency and has a long cycle service life by using a lithium-containing silicon oxide as a negative electrode, and using sulfide of iron as a positive electrode. SOLUTION: A lithium ion storing-releasing substance which is expressed by a composition formula Lix SiOy and on which the lithium content (x) and an oxygen quantity (y) are respectively set to (1.5<=x<=4, 0<y<2), is used as a negative electrode active material, and when they are particularly set to (2<x<3.9), charging/discharging characteristics which electric potential is base and polarization is reduced and efficiency of repetitive charging/discharging is enhanced and internal resistance is small, can be obtained. Since a material which is sulfide of iron containing lithium and is expressed by a composition formula Lix FeSy and on which the lithium content (x) and a fulfur quantity (y) are respectively set to (0.25<=x<=1.1, 0.7<y<1.3) and are most desirably set to 50 to 0.1μm is also used as a positive electrode active material, capacity can be remarkably increased. |
