摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high reflectivity and excellent signal output characteristic by using an optical recording medium of which the absolute value (r) of (&epsi;) satisfies a range of specific values when the real part of the complex specific dielectric constant (&epsi;) of a recording layer at the recording wavelength of recording light and the reproducing wavelength of reproducing light as &epsi;1 and the imaginary part thereof as &epsi;2. SOLUTION: The range of ht absolute value (r) of the complex specific dielectric constant (&epsi;) (&epsi;=&epsi;1-i&epsi;2) of the recording layer satisfies r<=1.5 or r>=15. The value is adequately &epsi;1>=&epsi;2 when r<=1.5 and &epsi;1<=&epsi;2 when r>=15. Tin phthalocyanine chloride is representatively used for the recording layer 2 and films are formed by a vacuum vapor deposition method in such a manner that the average film thicknesses of 50 nm, 100 nm and 150 nm are attained. Recording and reproducing tests are carried out laser beams of various kinds of wavelengths and the numerical values described above are obtd. from the results thereof. Good recording and reproducing are made possible by using the optical recording medium successively formed with the recording layer 2 contg. dyestuffs for absorbing the recording light, an intermediate layer 3 and a reflection layer 4 on a transparent substrate 1 according to this constitution.
