PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling bearing capable of exerting good bearing performance for a long period of time even in chemicals having very strong corrosivity which a rolling bearing made of silicon nitride cannot withstand. SOLUTION: At least the rolling surfaces of an inner ring 1, an outer ring 2, and a rolling element 3 are formed of a composite ceramic material. The composite ceramic material has a principal constitution part consisting of alumina and zirconia. The principal constitution part has alumina contents ranging from 40 to 98 percent by volume and zirconia contents ranging from 60 to 2 percent by volume. In addition, a non-principal constitution part having a ratio to the principal constitution part of less than 1 vol.% may be provided. HIP(Hot Isostatically Pressing sintering is applied to the composite ceramic material. A maximum surface roughness Rmax of the rolling surface is 0.4 μm or less, an average surface roughness Ra is 0.1 μm or less. |
