PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a urethane prepolymer having excellent adhesion, weatherability or the like, a process for producing the same, and a coating composition using the same and a polyisocyanate. SOLUTION: The urethane prepolymer having a hydroxyl group value of 100-250 mgKOH/g and obtained by reacting a polyol with a polyisocyanate is used in a coating composition (wherein the polyol comprises as the main component a polycarbonate polyol having a hydroxyl of 20-350 mgKOH/g and an average number of functional groups of 2-4, group value and the polysocyanate comprises as the main component an isocyanurate-modified polyisocyanate of an aliphatic and/or cycloaliphatic di-isocyanate having the isocyanate content of 10-40 wt.% and an average number of functional groups of 2.5-6).
