摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the utilization efficiency of light and to provide a high-luminance liquid crystal device by providing microlenses corresponding to the respective aperture areas of respective pixels on a first substrate on a second substrate and making the width of a light shielding layer corresponding to the switching elements or the like of respective pixels narrower than the line width of data lines or scanning lines on the first substrate. SOLUTION: The plural microlenses are arranged in the shape of matrix corresponding to respective pixel electrodes 11 on a second substrate 2, and a light shielding layer 23 is formed between the adjacent microlenses. This light shielding layer 23 is formed so as to be overlapped with a data line 35 or scanning line 31 in planar view, and its width is narrower than the line width of the data line 35 or scanning line 31. Namely, the contour of the light shielding layer 23 is made back into the data line 35 just by width LB rather than the data line 35 when it is watched from the side of the opposed substrate 2. Thus, even when the alignment accuracy of both the substrates 1 and 2 or the dimensional accuracy of the light shielding layer 23 is only 1 μm level, the light shielding layer 23 is not protruded into the apeature area, further, the large aperture area can be secured and the utilization efficiency of light is improved.
