A magnetic core used in a magnetic sensor of a diskette type memory card adapter is manufactured by laminating a plurality of rapidly solidified alloy sheets and by punching the alloy laminate. This lamination is carried out with a hot-melt adhesive. A heat treatment is made at a temperature of 180 to 220 DEG C before the punching, or at a temperature of 180 to 540 DEG C after the punching. The direction of the length of the magnetic gap of the magnetic core is perpendicular to the direction of magnetic anisotropy of the sheets.
