COMMON PACKET CHANNEL SETTING APPARATUS AND METHOD IN CDMA COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A common packet channel setting apparatus and method in a CDMA communication system are provided to actively allocate CPCH required for a subscriber unit by a base station, reduce time required for setting up the CPCH and collision probability, and prevent consumption of radio sources. CONSTITUTION: A node B receives an AP preamble per access slot(4202). The node B checks an SF value indicated by a signature of the preamble(4204). The node B checks whether a PCPCH(Physical Common Packet CHannel) corresponding to the SF value is allocatable(4206). The node B determines a PCPCH to be allocated and an AP signature for transmitting ACK among allocatable SFs(4208). The node B simultaneously transmits the ACK signal for the determined AP and NAK for a non-selected AP by using an AP-AICH channel(4210). The node B receives a CD(Collision Detection) preamble from an access slot(4212). The node B determines a CD-P for transmitting ACK on the basis of a reception power level(4216). The node B increases a corresponding count(PSF) for the SF of the PCPCH(4218). The node B stores the increased value(4226). The node B checks a PCPCH corresponding to the stored SF(4220). The node B checks whether to stop using of PCPCH(4222). The node B reduces a count value(PSF) of the corresponding SF for the use-stop determined PCPCH(4224). The node B stores the reduced value(4226). The node B reports the stored count value in response to a request of a CRNC.
