<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus by which an optimal reduced image can be obtained for respective character and photograph images by applying the kind of an original to be designated for printing in copying to the selection of an image reduction method as well. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with an image reading means 1 for optically reading and computerizing the original, an image data saving means 5 for saving the image data read by the image reading means 1, an image data printing means 3 for printing the image data read by the image reading means 1 and the image data saved by the image data saving means 5, an original type designating means 4 for designating either a character mode or a photograph mode and an image data reducing means 6 for reducing and saving the image data saved in the image data saving means and the image data reducing means 6 changes a reduced image generating system corresponding to the designation in the original type designating means 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
