<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a container effective to enhance the microbiological treatment of a used edible fat and oil by extruding an olefinic plastic composition containing a specified-particle-diameter powder of a component of a plant body, a processing residue of a plant body, or a mixture thereof into a sheet having a specified expansion ratio. SOLUTION: A foamed sheet having an expansion ratio of 20-50 is prepared by extruding a composition comprising 30-70 wt.% 10-100μm particle diameter powder of a component of a plant body, such as starch, a wood flour, a paper flour, or an oil meal, a processing residue of a plant body, or a mixture thereof and 70-30 wt.% olefinic plastic. This sheet possesses oil absorptivity because of its porous structure, is desirable as a carrier of microbes for sludge treatment, always floats to the surface of sludge because of its low bulk specified gravity, adsorptively holds a used edible fat and oil on the surface of sludge, and therefore accelerates the microbial degradation of the used fat and oil. The olefinic plastic used is exemplified by polyethylene, polypropylene, or an ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer.</p> |
