PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plumb-bob type dynamic cone penetration tester for avoiding the breakage of a penetration rod when pulling off the penetration rod connected to a conical body after completion of a test. SOLUTION: The plumb-bob type dynamic cone penetration tester comprises a steel guide rod 3, a plumb hammer 4 adapted to freely drop along the guide rod 3, a hammer receiver 5 having an upper end connected to the lower end of the guide rod 3 for impactingly receiving the freely dropping plumb hammer 4, the steel penetration rod 6 having an upper end connected to the lower end of the hammer receiver 5, and a steel conical assembly 7 connected to the lower end of the penetration rod 6. The conical assembly 7 consists of an adapter 70 having a male screw 70b to be threaded to the lower end of the penetration rod 6 and a conical body 72 to be detachably inserted into the lower end of the adapter 70 and frictionally held therein. The conical body 72 is separated from the conical assembly 7 when the penetration rod 8 is pulled off.
