PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a material for preparing dental glass ionomer cement excellent in temporarily adhesive use and temporarily sealing use. SOLUTION: The powdery material for preparing dental glass ionomer cement comprises 10-50 wt.% of fluoroaluminosilicate glass powder, <=10 wt.% of at least one kind of powder of a metal oxide selected from the group consisting of zinc oxide, barium oxide, calcium oxide, magnesium oxide, strontium oxide and yttrium oxide, and the balance of a powdery inert filler.
