PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for screening a chemical peeling agent, and to provide a method for improving the skin. SOLUTION: This method for screening the chemical peeling agent effective for being used for chemical peeling is characterized by selecting, as an active chemical peeling agent, a candidate chemical agent for promoting the expression of one or more genes selected from the group consisting of SPRR 2A gene, SPRR 2D gene, SPRR 2H gene, SPRR 2F gene, SPRR 1A gene, SPRR 1B gene, repetin gene, S100 A8 gene, S100 A9 gene, cystatin A gene, CCL2 gene and CEBPD gene.
