METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING AQUEOUS DISPERSION OF FINE PARTICLE OF THERMOPLASTIC RESIN AND TONER FOR ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an aqueous dispersion of fine particles of a thermoplastic resin in which extremely little solvent is left and a toner with extremely little solvent left.

SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the aqueous dispersion of the fine particles of the thermoplastic resins and a toner for electrophotography are disclosed. The method is composed of three processes; (1) the first process for swelling a thermoplastic resin (P) which are self-dispersible in water by an organic solvent (S) with a boiling point below 100°C which cannot dissolve the resin (P) but can swell the resin (P), (2) the second process for manufacturing an initial aqueous dispersed material by dispersing the swollen resin finely into an aqueous medium, and (3) the third process for dispersing the fine particles of the resin (P) into the above mentioned aqueous medium by removing the organic solvent (S) from the initial aqueous dispersed material. The toner for electrophotography comprises the fine particles of the resin (P) isolated and dried from the aqueous dispersed fine particles of the thermoplastic resin (P) manufactured by this method.
