PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain antimony-free electroconductive tin dioxide powder absolutely excellent in heat resistance since the well-known antimony-free electroconductive tin dioxide powder containing niobium, tantalum, phosphorus or the like as dopant is excellent in the initial electrical conductivity but poor in thermal stability (heat resistance). SOLUTION: A method for producing silicon-containing tin dioxide powder comprises the steps of: mixing at least one kind of tin compound powder selected from tin dioxide powder and stannic hydroxide powder with silicon nitride powder; and heating/firing the obtained mixture under a non-oxidizing atmosphere.
