<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium-containing compound oxide stable in structure, excellent in charging/discharging reversibility and durability during a charge/ discharge cycle and having a high energy density per volume, and also to provide a method for production thereof. <P>SOLUTION: This lithium-containing compound oxide has a composition represented by the general formula, Li<SB>1+x+α</SB>Ni<SB>(1-x-y+δ)/2</SB>Mn<SB>(1-x-y-δ)/2</SB>M<SB>y</SB>O<SB>2</SB>(wherein, 0≤x≤0.05; -0.05≤x+α≤0.05; 0≤y≤0.2; -0.1≤δ≤0.1; and M is Co or a combination of Co with at least one element selected from a group consisting of Ti, Cr, Fe, Cu, Zn, Al, Ge and Sn. The method for production thereof comprises sintering a complex compound containing at least Ni and Mn as constituent elements and an Li compound. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
