<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the consumption of a developer and the deterioration of a cleaning member in an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: By generating bias in the moving direction of toner from an intermediate transfer belt 26 to a photoreceptor belt 22, transferring of the toner for forming a patch from the photoreceptor belt 22 to the intermediate transfer belt 26 is regulated. By bringing the development roller 18 of a development cartridge 15 into contact with the photoreceptor belt 22 while generating bias in the moving direction of the toner to the development cartridge 15, the tonner is collected to the original development cartridge 15. Thus, in the case of forming the path, etc., the toner can easily be collected, so that the reduction of the toner is suppressed. Since it is less necessary to remove the toner for forming the patch by the cleaning member, the deterioration of the cleaning member can be suppressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
