<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of restraining the deterioration of the quality of toner in a developing device due to the intrusion of the toner. <P>SOLUTION: In a color laser printer 1, processing for deciding color mixture is performed by a control part when the printer 1 is started. Then, a test patch is formed for every color developing cartridge (S120), the density of the test patch is detected by a density detection sensor so as to judge whether or not the color mixture occurs in the developing cartridge based on the detected result (S140). When deciding that the color mixture occurs, the printer is shifted to a toner discharge mode (S160) so as to form an electrostatic latent image for discharging toner, which is developed by the developing cartridge, whereby the toner in the developing cartridge is discharged. The toner is recovered by a cleaning device provided in the apparatus. Thereafter, in the printer, the test patch is formed again and the density thereof is detected.
