<p>The continuous strand cigarette filter making machine has a suction drum at the delivery end, with grooves (47) across it, into which the cut filter pieces (58) are pushed. When in position on the drum, each fitter piece comes to rest above a row of suction holes (48). These communicate with the suction chamber (46) inside the drum (43, 44). A sliding plate (49) can be pushed along the underside of the surface (39) with the suction holes through it, so as to control the degree of suction acting on each filter piece. Attached to the sliding plate (49) is a spindle (52) with a finger grip attached, so that the plate can be manually adjusted.</p> |
