<p>PURPOSE:To detect the fault of a write tape before occurring and to complete processing for a magnetic tape by ORing the output of a magnetic tape medium fault detection part at a necessary part and the output of a tape terminating edge(EOT) detection part. CONSTITUTION:Write-in and readout from the magnetic tape 5 by the magnetic head 7 is controlled through a control part according to a command from a host device which passes through a control signal line 10. When the fault of the tape 5 is detected by the fault detection part 4 which is provided several blocks ahead of the head 7 in the case of write-in, the detection part 4 outputs an H signal in the same way the ETO detection part 3 outputs the H signal at the time of detecting the ETO. The H signals outputted from the detection parts 3 and 4 are supplied to a control part 2 through an OR circuit 6 and the processing for the magnetic tape is completed at the time of detecting the faulty part of the tape as well as at the time of detecting the ETO. Thus, the loss of data and the increase of processing time are prevented and the reliable processing for the magnetic tape is performed.</p> |
