PURPOSE:To absorb the impact force applied to the driver's chest, in the collision of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A contact member 11 which presses the lower edge part of a steering shaft 1 rearward, together with a dashboard 8, in collision of a vehicle, is installed at the position corresponding to the lower edge part of a steering shaft 1 on a dashboard 8. The contact member 11, retreats, together with the dashboard 8 when the vehicle collides, by making the supporting rigidity of the lower edge part of the steering shaft 1 to the weak rigidity for the ordinary support, and the lower edge part of the steering shaft 1 is pressed toward the rear part of the car body, and then the steering shaft 1 turns, and the impact force applied to the driver's chest part can be absorbed efficiently. |
