The electrical connector has a plug housing 21 that is pulled into engagement with a socket using a pivot 31 mounted lever 25. The lever is shaped with a pair of curved cam tracks 33 that are engaged by follower pins 35 on the plug. By moving the lever the parts are moved relative to each other. The plug and socket have a matrix of connection with pin locating in blade contacts. The pins 43 project at right angles into a back plate.
