A humidifier (9) for introducing liquid into the screw compartment is positioned between the housing (3) of the single or multiple shaft conveyor worm (4) and the discharge shaft (2). The humidifier encloses the worm(s) (7,8) and consists of a housing ring (12) with at least one liquid-inlet (10,11), and an annular nozzle-insert inserted into the housing ring. An annular chamber between the housing ring and the nozzle-insert is connected to the liquid-inlet. The nozzle-insert has nozzle holes connecting the annular and worm chambers.
