<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device capable of forming an image of appropriate density even just after the start of using the developing device, and to provide an image forming apparatus equipped with the developing device. <P>SOLUTION: Before the start of using, a boundary between a storage chamber 34a for storing toner and a developing chamber 34b in a developing cartridge 28 is closed with a shutter member 63 while keeping the toner packed in the developing chamber 34b, and the packed toner is pushed with a pushing member 68 toward a supply roller 33, then, the toner is packed with a density larger than the loose apparent density in the developing chamber 34b. Then, the toner is satisfactorily secured in the developing chamber 34b before the start of using, and then, the toner is satisfactorily supplied to the developing roller 31 even just after the start of using, consequently, the quantity of the toner carried by the developing roller 31 can be satisfactorily secured, and the image of the appropriate density can be formed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
