<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane electrode assembly by which generated water through a cell reaction is efficiently utilized for humidifying an electrolyte membrane, and a high output is stably obtained even if a quantity of water supplied to the electrolyte membrane from outside is reduced or shut down, and a fuel cell and an electrolytic cell having the membrane electrode assembly. <P>SOLUTION: The membrane electrode assembly 1 has an anode 10, a cathode 20 and the electrolyte membrane 30 disposed between the anode and the cathode, and the anode and the cathode are gas-diffusion electrodes. The electrolyte membrane includes a solid electrolyte having a structure comprising an organic group including one or more metal atom, oxygen atom bonded to the metal atom and carbon atom bonded to the metal atom or the oxygen atom, and having a functional group including an ion exchange bonded with the organic group in fine holes. A plurality of fine holes having a medium diameter of 1 to 30 nm of 1 to 30 nm are formed on the solid electrolyte. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
