<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate cis-2,6-dimethylpiperazine having high purity and useful as a raw material for pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals suppressing the formation of trans-2,6-dimethylpiperazine as a by-product. <P>SOLUTION: A method for the selective production of cis-2,6- dimethylpiperazine by reacting diisopropanolamine with ammonia in the presence of a catalyst in an organic solvent, a method for separating cis-2,6- dimethylpiperazine in high purity by crystallizing with an organic solvent and a method for producing cis-2,6-dimethylpiperazine by isomerizing the by-produced trans-2,6-dimethypliperazine in the presence of a catalyst at ≥180°C are provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
