PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an electrode active material in touch with a current collector to discharge more efficiently.

SOLUTION: The current collector 10 is a substrate having a grid pattern 18 comprising open areas converging at an imaginary focal point on a connector tab 20 of the substrate. The openings are grouped into distinct regions with the larger openings 48 immediately adjacent to the connector tab and the smaller openings 50 distant there from. This provides more conductive pathways at greater distances from the tab.
