<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel apparatus applicable to applications of optical communication, optical measurement, optical information processing and other fields of phase conjugation optics. <P>SOLUTION: Exciting light and input signal light are supplied to a nonlinear optical medium (1) and an output signal light and phase conjugation light are produced in the nonlinear optical medium (1). The output signal light and phase conjugation light are extracted by signal light/phase conjugation light extracting means (7) and are respectively outputted from output ports (5) and (6).
