A guard for a tree or plant designed to encircle the base of one or more trees or plants to protect them from damage caused by animals such as rabbits in disclosed. The guard has a flexible mesh which extends between a pair of end members (12) and extensions (13) projecting from the top edge of the mesh at an angle to the mesh. The guard also has one or more pegs (14) to retain together the end members and to project into the ground (15) beyond the bottom edge of the mesh.
