PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior color image recorder with an intermediate transfer part that is small sized and with a simple constitution and with a good maintenance ability. SOLUTION: In this recorder, individual units 12 are loaded to a rotary body from a lid part on a top surface of a device in a state where an opening part 1C is faced upward, while they are guided to an image forming position by being rotated and moved by the rotary body, an intermediate transfer belt unit 2 is inserted inside the device from an opening and closing part 1A in front of the device, guided to a transfer position and disposed to face oppositely to a photoreceptor 18. The intermediate transfer belt 2 is provided with a cleaning roll 7 that is installed to be able to be brought into contact with or separated from the intermediate transfer belt 3.
