The method involves testing the transmission quality of individual transmission channels of the radio path for each receiving unit by successively measuring the frequency-specific reception field strength in frequency steps that are small relative to the bandwidth of an individual transmission channel. Each reception field strength is transmitted to a central unit (1,2). A representation of a transmission channel indicating the band occupancy is determined for each audio reception station at the central unit by evaluating the field strengths. For each receiving unit, frequencies are determined at which the reception field strength is least subject to interference.
