PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal which exhibits the same weight feeling as a seal made of an ivory even if the seal is made of a light material such as a boxwood, and has low center of gravity when in use. SOLUTION: The seal 1 consists of a cylindrical body 2, a head 3 formed by forming one of the opposite ends of the body 2 into a spherical shape, and a flat sealing surface 4 formed on the other end of the body 2. The seal 1 is made of a wooden material such as a boxwood. A cavity 5 of two thirds the diameter of the body 2 is concentrically formed by drilling the body 2 from the head 3 toward the vicinity of the surface 4. Weights 6, in the form of grains of sand, are filled into the cavity 5 to one third the depth thereof, and an opening on the side of the head 3 is closed with a plug having one third the length of the cavity 5. Thus, even if the seal 1 is made of a light material such as a boxwood, it exhibits the same feel of weightiness as a seal made of an ivory and has a low center of gravity when it is used.
