A hydraulic mortar composition containing lightweight filler (III), cellulose ether (IV), setting retarder (V), etc., in which (III) has a bulk density of less than 600 g/l and a water absorption of 80 wt% or more and the following wt. ratios are used: (a) (III):(IV) = (0.001:1)-(10:1) and (V):(IV) = (0.3:1)-(10:1) for a mix water requirement of 20-45 wt%, or (b) (III):(IV) = (0.01:1)-(30:1) and (V):(IV) = (0.07:1)-(10:1) for a mix water requirement of 45-100 wt%. A hydraulic mortar composition (I) containing hydraulically-setting component(s) (II), lightweight filler(s) (III), cellulose ether(s) (IV), setting retarder(s) (V) and optionally other additives (VI), especially fillers (VIA) and dispersion powder (VIB). In this composition (I), (a) the wt. ratio of (III):(IV) = (0.001:1)-(10:1) and the wt. ratio of (V):(IV) = (0.3:1)-(10:1) for a mix water requirement of 20-45 wt% based on dry substance content; (b) the wt. ratio of (III):(IV) = (0.01:1)-(30:1) and the wt. ratio of (V):(IV) = (0.07:1)-(10:1) for a mix water requirement of 45-100 wt%; and (c) the filler (III) has a bulk density of less than 600 g/l and a water absorption capacity of 80 wt% or more at room temperature (RT). Independent claims are also included for (1) a pre-mixture (IA) for the production of (I) containing the components (III), (IV) and/or (V), in which (a) the wt. ratio of (III):(IV) = (0.001:1)-(100:1), especially (0.01:1)-(75:1) and/or (b) the wt. ratio of (III):(V) = (0.01:1)-(100:1), especially (0.1:1)-(75:1), and (c) (III) has the above properties, preferably with a water absorption of about 100 wt% or more (2) a method for the production of (IA) by mixing all the components except (II) together (all or part in each case).
