METHOD AND CONTROLLER FOR CONTROLLING WAVELENGTH VARIABLE OPTICAL FILTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a controller for controlling a wavelength variable optical filter which realize sure and stable control of a drive state of the wavelength variable optical filter independently of a wavelength to collectively be selected and separated.

SOLUTION: The controller 3 of the wavelength variable optical filter 1 comprises: a light receiving part 3A which collectively picks up and receives monitor light corresponding to each optical signal selected and separated by the wavelength variable optical filter 1, and generates a monitor signal having a level changing according to power of the received monitor light; an AC component extracting part 3B which extracts the AC component of the monitor signal generated by the light receiving part 3A; and a tracking control part 3C which controls the drive state of the wavelength variable optical filter 1 on the basis of the level change of the AC component extracted by the AC component extracting part 3B.
