摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce moisture content entering an electro-optical device such as a liquid crystal device. SOLUTION: Outside of the area 110a where a TFT array substrate 10 and a counter substrate 20 are lapped over each other, a level difference part 49 is arranged according to the difference in size between these substrates. A protective member 300 is engaged with the substrate surface of the TFT array substrate 10, which is the bottom face of the level difference part 49, via an adhesive part 200 and engaged with the side face of the counter substrate 20 forming the side face of the level difference part 49 via the adhesive part 200, and is thereby stuck to the TFT array substrate 10 and the counter substrate 20. Therefore, since the adhesive part 200 and the protective member 300 are disposed outside a sealing material 52, the moisture content can be prevented from entering a liquid crystal layer 50 located in the area 110a by the non-water-permeable protective member 300.
