PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing device that can provide an information receiver, such as a traveler, etc., with the information on each place along a traveling route of the receiver by following up the receiver when the receiver arrives at each place.

SOLUTION: This information providing device is provided with a provider DB 11 in which the information provided from an information provider and the existing area of the provider are recorded in a correlated state, a positional information collecting section 15 which acquires one by one the present location of the portable telephone 10 held by the information receiver who wants to receive information, and a down load control section 16 which discriminates one by one whether or not the acquired present location of the portable telephone 10 exists in the existing area of the information provider recorded in the DB 11 and, when the discriminated result is affirmative, fetches the information provided from the information provider and transmits the information to the portable telephone 10.
