METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING FLAT ELLIPTICAL GLASS CAPILLARY FOR DISCHARGE TUBE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently, easily and inexpensively manufacture a glass capillary having a flat elliptical shape in section for a discharge tube.

SOLUTION: The glass tube having the flat elliptical shape in section is formed by crushing and deforming a glass tube having a circular shape in section within forming dies provided with means for airtightly sealing the glass tube and regulating at least the minor axis size of the glass tube after forming by the thrusting produced by increasing the pressure in the glass tube by heating and by elongating the glass tube while heating the glass tube.
