The present invention provides antagonizing antibodies that bind to interleukin-7 receptor (IL-7R). The invention further provides a method of obtaining such antibodies and antibody-encoding nucleic acids. The invention further relates to therapeutic methods for use of these antibodies and antigen-binding portions thereof for the treatment and/or prevention of type 2 diabetes and immunological disorders, including type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, graft-versus-host disease, and lupus. |

1. A method for reducing blood glucose levels and inhibiting type 1 diabetes progression in an individual, the method comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of an antagonist IL-7R antibody to an individual suffering from type 1 diabetes, wherein the antibody comprises:
a heavy chain variable region (VH) comprising CDR1, CDR2, and CDR3 of the VH region comprising the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 40; and a light chain variable region (VL) comprising CDR1, CDR2, and CDR3 of the VL region comprising the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 41. |
