The invention relates to a lock cylinder key system comprising a cylinder housing in which a cylinder core is rotatably mounted, which cylinder core has a keyway accommodating a key that can be inserted into the keyway and that has a profiled lateral face, the cylinder core and the cylinder housing having tumblers which cooperate and which consist of core pins and driver pins. The keyway has a profiled section matching the lateral profiled section of the key and the lateral profiled section of the keyway has a clearance into which a ball projects that is resiliently mounted in the key. The last core pin in the cylinder core has a groove or cut-out section with which a finger pin that is rotatably mounted in the cylinder core can be engaged to maintain the core pin in its locking position, the finger pin being rotatable and its engagement with the groove being releasable by means of the ball when the key is inserted. |
