PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve appearance of out-of-focus images while minimizing reduction in light intensity of the out-of-focus images.SOLUTION: An optical system is provided, having a plurality of lenses, an aperture stop, and an optical element with a transmittance distribution. When r represents a radial distance from an optical axis on the optical element, rrepresents a radial distance from the optical axis to a point on the optical element at which a transmittance is 90% of a maximum value, T(r) represents a transmittance at a distance r, Trepresents the maximum value of transmittance, and rrepresents an effective diameter of the optical element, the transmittance decreases with increasing radial distance from the optical axis in a range of r<r, and conditions expressed as 0.9≤T(r)/Tand 0.5≤r/rare satisfied in a range of 0≤r≤r.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
